It's the Holiday season and while shelter pets are euthanized for space in overcrowded shelters, more pets are bought from unlicensed backyard breeders. Not just that, but many people become victims to scams. The idea to present a darling puppy, maybe with a giant red bow, to a child or a girlfriend under the Christmas Tree is very appealing. Just think about their eyes lighting up at the sight of this adorable ball of fluff... it makes your heart melt! But, be careful, those puppies that you see advertised on the internet may not even exist! If they do, they are most likely not properly weaned from their mother (who herself lives a sad, sad life in deplorable conditions), do not have appropriate vaccines, and have other health issues. Lately, the Flying Shepherd Ranch has been receiving emails from "shoppers" hoping to find a puppy at a bargain price. They are told that we will fly in their Husky, Shepsky, Pomsky Puppy from some unknown destination. Not so! We work with a select group of Rescue Partners and fly rescued Shelter Pets to their rescues, fosters or adopters. Please do not fall victim to a scam! And, please, just consider adopting a puppy, or perhaps even an older dog, from a shelter or rescue. You will save a life and what greater
gift is there to give?
